Exactly a decade ago, Tom Ford for YSL. A few men on earth understands less is sexy. Women? Even fewer…
I remember I stopped and was completely drawn into this image (by photographer Daniel Riera) as I was flipping through a magazine at my favourite newsstand in Stockholm on Gotgatan (certainly I bought the magazine, actually I bought a whole big lot out of this little shop every time I visit). Back to this image… It’s the masculinity, femininity, androgyny, modernity, simplicity… all blended so well together, and so well captured. Some may say the look is too blunt, to me it’s just candid, bold and effortless. Almost Vein.
Definitely forward talking about BACK by Ann-Sofie Back. This line is arriving the first time in Hong Kong and soon to be introduced at our original shop Vein in Starstreet. Here, a magazine tear out from Swedish stylist Elin Kling’s STYLEBY #3, showing a picture of model wearing an outfit from BACK FW 2011, an organza dress overlay on floral printed dress, with designer Ann-Sofie at backstage of Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week Stockholm earlier this year.
I don’t know when I started having this thought or this belief, probably since late 80′s or early 90′s, during which there was so much modern minimalism in fashion. I kept a whole big archive on this theme, and here’s one of them of a later period: a Filippa K ad in Wallpaper around 2006 or a year before/ after. It’s one of my favourite imageries of Filippa K. And it says so much about the essence of the brand still so true even today, that personal minimalism.
